| This was shared on social media with a demand to know why it’s not receiving extensive national coverage- the spin being, the “liberal media” is ignoring it. It took me a minute of searching to find that many national news outlets did cover it. But here’s the thing… Murders equally horrific occur all the time all over the country. It would be impossible for national news media to cover ALL of them. Very few such incidents which don’t involve celebrities or prominent politicians or some such get wide coverage. If you want to follow a story like this, go to the news outlets local to the incident and follow it that way. |
| This meme is getting spread around with the intention of denigrating the US for daring to use inefficient methods of producing electricity. Obviously, the people sharing it have no critical thinking or they’re just plain ignorant, because Iceland is sitting on top of a field of volcanoes, which is where the geothermal energy comes from. The mainland US has a few activ-ish volcanoes along the west coast, but they’re puny compared to Icelandic volcanoes, plus, they aren’t close enough to populated regions to make a difference. Hawaii does produce some of their electricity via geothermal energy. |
