| I’ve seen this and similar memes being posted in poultry groups by anti-vaxxers. Hatcheries which cater to hobbyists and backyard chicken farmers DO NOT VACCINATE BABY CHICKS for bird flu or any other controversial vaccines. If the buyer wants to pay extra, they will vaccinate chicks against common poultry diseases such as Marek’s or Fowl Pox, which affect ONLY poultry. The NPIP program that the sign refers to is a program which ensures the buyer that the parent flocks have been tested and declared clean of certain diseases which can devastate poultry flocks. This program has been in place since the 1930s. |
| The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) is part of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (H.R.3128). It was signed into law by Republican Ronald Reagan. The EMTALA requires hospitals that receive Medicaid funds never turn away a life-threatening emergency case, regardless of status. If the person is undocumented, the hospital must stabilize their condition, but that’s as far as it can go. That person cannot receive follow up care. Illegals cannot and DO NOT receive Medicaid. Period. The work requirement for receiving food stamps has been in place for decades. Able-bodied adults MUST be working at least 20 hours a week to receive SNAP. I’m all for requiring that Medicaid recipients prove their continuing eligibility, but the 6-month rule presents a couple of problems. Most people receiving it already permanently qualify due to disability or old age, except for children who will age out, but the welfare office already knows when those children come of age. Social services offices are understaffed, and increasing their workload by doubling Medicaid checkups will be extremely difficult to implement. |

| This is one of those with a grain of truth but the facts have been twisted. The Republican nominees were Julie Adams and Jason Frazier. Both of these had been raising a big stink about election results ala Trump. Julie Adams had previously filed a lawsuit (which was subsequently thrown out of court), and dragged the election board through the mud. She then expected them to appoint her? Yeah, right. The commission rejected both of them because they were causing so much trouble. After all was said and done, two centrist Republicans were on the board. How about that? |
