The Miracles of Jesus

Greeting, brothers and sisters in Christ.

Some people don’t believe Jesus existed. Many believe He did exist, but He was just a prophet, and the stories of His miracles were made up by His followers to attract more followers.

Many Christians who do believe that Jesus performed miracles, also believe that miracles ceased with the passing of the apostles, and that miracles don’t happen in today’s world.

I’m fortunate to have grown up surrounded by Spirit-filled Christians, and became one myself. I have no doubts that Jesus performed miracles, and that they still happen today, because I have experienced and witnessed miracles myself, including multiplying food (I’ll tell about that one in a future post!)

Since the Gospels weren’t written down until a few decades after the crucifixion, the events they recorded were presumably passed on orally until quill was set to parchment. It’s feasible that the writers could have met a few people who witnessed some of those miracles for themselves, though they would have been very old by the time they related their experiences with Jesus to the scribes.

The details of stories can change with the telling and retelling of them, so it’s possible that some of the miracles attributed to Jesus never happened. But I believe it’s probable that He performed many miracles that didn’t make it into the written accounts.
